NNW, Inc. performed the structural design of twin four story mezzanines for the welding fabrication of Boeing’s Delta IV rockets. The 43-foot tall mezzanines were connected by a 70-foot long bridge. Each 37,000 square foot structure was designed for seismic zone 1. The purpose of the mezzanines is welding fabrication of the shell of the 20-foot diameter rocket body and is located in the new 2 million square foot rocket assembly plant in Decatur, Georgia.
NNW, Inc. designed two 6,000-ton fly ash silos for the IES Prairie Creek Power Station in Cedar Rapids. The 45-foot tall silos were supported 23 feet off the ground to clear trucks and unloading equipment. The structure was founded on a raft foundation.
